Synopsis

Running away from home while still in high school, Vanessa arrives in Times Square as a young, rebellious woman. She is quickly discovered by the madam Dominique and begins work as an erotic dancer. Vanessa’s unbridled sexiness catches the eye of adult filmmaker Phil, who works for the same mobsters that own the dance clubs and theaters Vanessa and her fellow performers work at.

Meanwhile, the federal government and local authorities are strategizing to clean up Times Square. Under the leadership of the District Attorney who’s just been elected the new Mayor, the authorities begin to step up their efforts to clean up the streets and force the organized crime-controlled adult industry out of New York City. Agent Carley is tasked with implementing the new corruption and censorship laws, and targets the brutal men behind the mob-owned adult dance clubs, theaters, and retail shops.

Vanessa begins starring in a series of fun, racy adult films as Phil’s new leading lady. Her insatiable desires and fierce determination to never be portrayed as a victim distinguish her from all the other adult performers of her day. She wins the hearts of her growing legions of adoring fans and quickly becomes a bona fide star. As her celebrity status rises, Vanessa develops many new friendships yet begins losing touch with her ailing Mama and close childhood friend Sandy.

The mobsters’ battle with the feds moves from the streets to the courts. Just when the government thinks it has broken their spirit, the fight takes a new turn as the mobsters realize they have suddenly found in Vanessa a brand new source of revenue, allowing them to fight the costly, litigious efforts to displace them.

After Sandy’s unfortunate suicide and the passing of Mama, Vanessa begins questioning her life’s choices, including her love affairs with both good-natured Jamie and bad boy George. Just when things couldn’t get any worse, Vanessa is arrested along with her colleagues for various obscenity and drug-related issues. She is sent to jail and begins her transformation to a cleaner, healthier lifestyle.

The feds further tighten their stranglehold on the mobsters, utilizing eminent domain laws and preying on the public’s fear of the newly discovered disease AIDS. The mobsters see their adult clubs and theaters finally shut down after a series of violent confrontations amongst patrons, employees, and the authorities. Vanessa is released from jail and discovers the adult industry has changed to become much more fetishistic and misogynistic, in part due to the popularity of the new VHS home video capabilities.

Vanessa attends a final celebration being thrown in honor of her former lover Jamie, and learns he’s leaving the adult business to pursue a more legitimate theatrical acting career. This elicits an epiphany in Vanessa, who then decides to also end her reign as the World’s First Latina adult performer after what was certainly a wild, exhilarating ride!
